Details
Category: Packs/Bags
Created: Friday, 06 July 2007 07:25

Due to the similar core platforms of these two versipacks, I have chosen to display both reviews in one post. Forgive me if this causes the flow to read a little jumpy.

MAXPEDITION 3.5” Clip On Phone Holster :

Details
Category: Pouches
Created: Friday, 06 July 2007 07:24

Overall height: 3.5” , Overall width: 2”

This little phone buddy has a simplistic, but useful design. This particular version is 3.5" tall, but 4" and 4.5" versions are also available. The elastic and adjustable strap allow for generous size fudging, but pretty much any phone around 3.5" tall, excluding the antenna, will fit snug right on in there.

MAXPEDITION E-10 Envelope Case :

Main: 10" x 2.5"

This pouch is quite simple in design, but fills a niche need. The flap has a velcro connection and the inside is lined with soft protective synthetic “shearling”.

These snazzy "TacTile" Pockets are very useful at adding that extra pocket you always wanted on other gear. Although 3 sizes are available, they all have core standard features.

SORD AUSTRALIA Commander Panel Large

DIM: 10.5" x 6.25" x 1"
A more unique item, it works great for having quick access to documents and other admin goods. The intention is to mount it on the chest area of you kit, however it can also work well attached to a tactical bag. When mounted to the chest, the panel opens to about 100 degrees thus making a great hands-free admin platform.

SORD AUSTRALIA Accessories Extra Large Front Zip Pouch

Details
Category: Pouches
Created: Friday, 06 July 2007 06:31

DIM: 9" x 6.5" x 3.5"
Although originally designed to hold a complete ADF issue ration pack, I find this to be a great general purpose pouch. After seeing the design I'm actually surprised I don't see more like it. The front zip makes this pouch a lot easier to operate when mounted to one's side, which is usually where GP pouches end up. When on the side, the horizontal zipper movement is much more natural than the common top open GP pouches. This design also has more of a rounded rectangle shape with a healthy dose of exterior PALS real estate. The inside is straight forward, with no loops or elastic. Extra plastic slides have been added to the upper back exterior to allow further mounting options.

5.11-TACTICAL TDU Pant - Ripstop

Category: Clothing

Although I had some sizing issues with these at first, I'm really digging these pants now. One of the unique features that works well for most, is the self adjusting elastic waist. Sadly this part didn't work out too good for me. I got my desired size and everything fit how I wanted, but the elastic was putting some serious pressure on me. After a little thought, I decided to cut the frontal elastic. Luckily on the design it still keeps the side elastic and pants structure intact.

TacArm ACU Ballistic Knee Pad Insert

Details
Category: Protective
Created: Sunday, 01 July 2007 05:11

TacArm is a small company that is lesser known, but has some great ideas. They noticed the problem that the issued vests were generally doing the military right, but many limbs were still being severely wounded due to lack of protection. Due to this, Tacarm's current specialty is extra soft armor protection for your main combat uniform. Although they offer fully modded uniforms for maximum armor holdings, they also offer armor that will fit in your standard uniform as is. I got a hold of the knee pad inserts and have been beating up on them for a little bit.
