MAXPEDITION - Modular Inserts 2

Details
Category: Pouches
Created: Thursday, 05 May 2011 00:23

Maxpedition has some recent additions to their hook and loop based inserts. With all the cool guy bags using loop these days, always good to see more inserts to give more holding and organization flexibility.

Double Pocket Insert: 4.5" x 6.5" x 2"
A nice compact organizer great for holding small electronics, compact toiletries, or even can fill up with some first aid basics. It sports 2 exterior pockets with velcro closure using a nice soft interior material making these area great for phones and compact cameras. The main compartment opens with a double zippers to a near clam-shell style, but not all the way to keep goods from flopping all the way out. Inside there is a simple sleeve pocket on one side with elastic divided into 2 slots and even a key keeper.

Mini Organizer: 4.375" x 7"
I suppose this thing ends up like a slim admin insert good for pens and a 3"x5" notebook. When pushing the capacity of the elastic loops, folding knives and pistol mags can fit. The lower mesh pocket has decent multipurpose capability since it can billow, however the opening does not stretch so limits what I feel would be its full potential. Filling up every area with an item will cramp the insert pretty good and it will start to curve up on the sides so don't plan on getting too much holding capacity out of it. That aside, works just fine for writing utensils and small paper which what seems to be the main design goal.

32oz/1L Water Bottle Holder: 4" x 7" x 3"
A very simple, but effective pouch for holding 32oz water bottles like the good ol' Nalgene. For extra security, a shock cord loop with cordlock is integrated to the top to cinch down on the bottle's lid. Effective, but I'd like to see the Jumbo's water pocket closure adapted to this insert which gives a little better flexibility for holding smaller bottles. No grommet on the bottom which makes sense for inner pack placement. Interior back interestingly has a large loop velcro field so technically one could have an insert inside this insert.
